Architecture can be symbolic, to facilitate understanding of the world in which we live. In a prestigious academic institution like the Philippine Science High School – Central Visayas Campus, this symbol does not only articulate the ethos of the school but also creates a stronger collective identity and connection in relation to the island Visayas, an island historically, accessed by vintas or traditional outrigger boats from the Philippine island of Mindanao. The sails are shaped like a flame as a symbol of enlightenment.
